Gynaecological Revisions
This involves periodical check-ups with the gynaecologist, which includes breast and genital examinations.
This includes commentary on the general health in the stage of life she finds herself, the type of periods and menstrual disorders, contraceptive methods, hormonal and weight problems...
As a general rule, we perform breast and genital exam. This includes an inspection of the vulvo area, vagina and cervix, a gynaecological ultrasound, and depending on risk factors, a cervical cytology or HPV.
This is a full check-up of a woman's health, and should not be simply considered a cytology. That is why it is important to do one annually or biannually.
Depending on the information derived from a person's history and the physical, the gynaecologist can request more tests in order to make an early diagnosis of specific pathologies at each stage of a woman's life as well as preventing future problems. For example a mammography, bone densitometry, hysteroscopy or blood or urine analyses.
With suitable follow-up of these recommendations one can prematurely diagnose breast cancer (considerably reducing the mortality rate), preventing cervical cancer, prematurely diagnosing precancerous endometrial lesions or preventing post-menopausal osteoporosis.
